What catches people out in the UK
Sterling is the one major currency where the number on the tag is smaller than the dollar amount you will actually pay. Round up, not down.
When this rule stops working
Rules of thumb rot quietly. This one holds while the rate stays roughly between 0.851 and 0.889 GBP to the euro. Outside that band a different divisor becomes the better one to memorise.
