Privacy Policy
Effective 4 August 2026
RoamRate is built to do one thing well — convert currency for travellers — without harvesting your data.
The short version: the app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and almost everything stays on your device. This website counts page views with a privacy-respecting tool that uses no cookies and collects nothing personal — described at the bottom of this page. This policy explains exactly what each of them does and does not do with information.
What the RoamRate app does not collect
- No account, name, email or login — RoamRate has no sign-up.
- No analytics or usage tracking — we do not measure what you tap.
- No advertising identifiers — there are no ads and no ad networks.
- We never sell or share personal data, because we do not collect it.
Location
If you allow it, RoamRate uses your device's location once when the app opens to work out which country you are in, so it can pre-select the local currency. Your coordinates are handled by your device's location services and used only to derive the country — RoamRate does not transmit or store your location. You can decline the permission, or turn off "Auto-detect country" in Settings; the app works fully without it.
Information stored on your device
Your settings, recent currencies and the last downloaded exchange rates are saved locally on your device so the app works offline. This information never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Exchange rates
To keep conversions current, RoamRate fetches exchange-rate data from a third-party provider (ExchangeRate-API, exchangerate-api.com). These requests contain no personal information. As with any internet request, the provider's servers receive your device's IP address.
Purchases
RoamRate Pro is a one-time purchase. Payment is processed by Apple through the App Store — RoamRate never sees your card or payment details. To deliver your purchase and restore it across your devices, RoamRate uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat processes a randomly generated identifier, your purchase history and basic device information, used only to grant and restore Pro access — never for advertising or tracking. See Apple's and RevenueCat's privacy policies for details.
This website
Everything above is about the RoamRate app. This website — roamrate.app — is a separate thing, and it does one small piece of measurement that the app does not.
We count page views with a lightweight, cookieless analytics tool, so we can see which pages are worth writing more of. It sets no cookies, uses no browser storage of any kind, does not fingerprint you, and does not follow you to any other site — nothing it does survives closing the tab. What it sends is the page address and the site that linked you here. As with any web request, the server also sees your IP address, which is used to derive an approximate country and is not retained against you. None of it identifies you, and none of it is sold, shared or used for advertising.
It is a deliberately small compromise. We would rather know that the Thai baht page earns its place than write blind — but not at the cost of the thing this app is for. If your browser blocks it, the site works exactly the same.
The app itself remains free of all of this. Nothing you do inside RoamRate is measured, on any tier.
Children
RoamRate is a general-audience utility, is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
