What catches people out in Sri Lanka
The Sri Lankan rupee has moved a long way in recent years, so any rule you memorised on a previous trip is probably wrong. Re-check it on arrival.
When this rule stops working
Rules of thumb rot quietly. This one holds while the rate stays roughly between 89.5 and 90.5 LKR to the dirham. Outside that band a different divisor becomes the better one to memorise.
