What catches people out in Malaysia
Ringgit sit close enough to a quarter of a US dollar that a rough "divide by 4" gets you inside 10% almost all the time.
When this rule stops working
Rules of thumb rot quietly. This one holds while the rate stays roughly between 2.35 and 2.45 MYR to the New Zealand dollar. Outside that band a different divisor becomes the better one to memorise.
