What catches people out in Romania
The leu is loosely managed against the euro, which makes the euro rule steadier than the dollar rule.
When this rule stops working
Rules of thumb rot quietly. This one holds while the rate stays roughly between 5.55 and 5.65 RON to the franc. Outside that band a different divisor becomes the better one to memorise.
